Introduction
In Nanaimo, BC, Canada, the community at Wayne Morgan Road needed a water treatment system makeover. The well contained too much iron and manganese as well as elevated levels of arsenic and boron. Now, this community has an excellent water treatment system in its pumphouse.
Objectives
Our primary goal was to clean the water to make it safe and ensure a dependable water supply for the people living there.
Challenges
The water quality was poor, and dangerous levels of harmful substances were present. Finding an effective, long-term solution to clean the water was challenging.
Project Management
We carefully planned and adhered to our budget and schedule. We installed a large reverse osmosis system to help manage the level of contaminants in the water and a UV system to prevent bacterial growth. We also installed two submersible pumps that alternate to maintain the right water pressure and protect the pumps.
Results
The new system provides clean and safe water to three homes and a shop. The community is satisfied with the improvement, and the project has shown the importance of having clean water.
Conclusion
Installing the water treatment system at Wayne Morgan Road was a big success. It shows how planning and technology can solve serious water quality issues, making a huge difference for the community.
