Case Study: Efficient Rainwater Collection System in Nanaimo, BC

Introduction

Our task was to design a rainwater collection and transfer system with storage tanks in Nanaimo, BC. The system involved a transfer tank and pump for easy water movement.

Objectives

Our primary goals for this project were to create a system that collects and stores rainwater for garden irrigation, reduces water bills, and supports watering during restrictions.

Challenges

Our main challenge was to move the collected rainwater to the storage tanks that were far away from the house.

Project Management

We placed the storage tanks away from the house for better use of the area. Then, we installed a transfer tank and pump to channel water to these tanks. Finally, each collection chamber was fitted with a pump, connecting it to an irrigation system.

Results

The final result was a rainwater system that cuts costs and ensures ample water for irrigation, even in the face of water restrictions.

Conclusion

We developed a simple yet effective rainwater management solution in Nanaimo, BC, customized to their needs. The system allows for a sustainable and economical approach to gardening that they will enjoy for years to come.
